In January 2021, Air France-KLM launched an innovative program that allows companies to play an active role in the future of sustainable travel, the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Program. This sustainable project was developed to support the creation of an industry for sustainable fuel and to make air transport increasingly more eco-responsible and Pelliconi is proud to be among the first 5 companies to join the project.
Air France and KLM Corporate customers who decide to join the program will have the opportunity to determine an annual contribution they wish to allocate to the SAF program, after making an estimate of the CO₂ emissions associated with their trips.
SAF is a cleaner replacement for conventional jet fuel. This alternative fuel is a perfect solution to reduce the impact of aviation on the environment. No changes to storage and distribution infrastructure, aircraft or engines are required to incorporate biofuels. Their gradual introduction worldwide should significantly reduce CO₂ emissions from the air transport system, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
