Sustainability
Sustainability plays a fundamental role in our society: every day we make choices, from the tiniest to the most demanding, which reduce our impact on the environment and improve social and economic well-being.
Pelliconi has been pursuing its path towards sustainability for years, a complex challenge that at the same time presents great opportunities inside and outside of the company. The Group recycles more than 97% of its production waste every year and it also started numerous projects to fight climate change, to support local and international communities and to guarantee its employees’ stability and safety in the workplace.
The environmental and social responsibility of a company like Pelliconi is of essential: it has allowed us to improve our business, focusing on respect for people and for the environment.
People
At Pelliconi we are aware of the importance and value that people bring to the company. These resources, through individual skills, enhance the organization and make it increasingly competitive. This awareness has led us to implement a series of initiatives to retain our internal resources, increasing their well-being and sense of belonging to the company. This is also thanks to the opportunity to participate in training courses and special initiatives to increase both the individual value and the value of the entire organization. Involve, motivate, and make individuals aware of the positive influence that each one can give to lower the impact of our business and ourselves on the environment.
Society
Pelliconi has always been a company driven by a strong ethical component, with a particular interest in the health and well-being of its employees and the inhabitants of the territories in which it operates. Every year, the company donates part of its earnings to scientific research and to support social, artistic, cultural and sporting activities, in a prospective of redistribution of wealth and reciprocity towards the community.

Pelliconi has been supporting scientific research, for years siding alongside organizations such as AIL in the fight against leukemia, lymphomas and myeloma and the Telethon Foundation to research treatments for rare genetic diseases.

Sport has an educational, inclusive, and social value and for this reason Pelliconi is involved in the life of numerous sports clubs, particularly in the city of Bologna. Here we support Virtus Bologna, one of the most famous basketball teams in Italy that plays at the highest national and international levels, and Bologna FC 1909, a historic Serie A soccer club.
Each year Pelliconi is also sponsor of one evening of the famous "Cinema Ritrovato", a show organized by the Cineteca di Bologna that re-proposes the great classics of world filmography recently restored.
"We want to continue our race by confirming the values and motivations that have guided us so far."
Environment
The 2020 sustainability project “Pelliconi Plants a Forest” was designed to help our planet and, at the same time, to support communities around the world. With the help of Treedom, an online platform that allows to plant trees digitally, Pelliconi has created the Angelo Pelliconi Forest: 3.650 trees of different species, planted in 4 countries between Africa and Central America, involving 188 local farmers who take care of the plantations.

In 2021, to celebrate its 82 years, the company decided to give life to another forest of 82 trees in the country where Pelliconi's story began, Italy. The Pelliconi 4 Italy Forest grows within one of the most famous parks in the world, as well as UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Park of the Rupestrian Churches of Matera, right in front of the Sassi di Matera. The new forest completely Made (& Planted) in Italy is thus added to the "Pelliconi Plants a Forest" Sustainability Project along with the more recent "Winter Wonderland" forest inaugurated in December 2021 and composed of 450 trees scattered between Italy, Nepal and Haiti.

In just 10 years, the Pelliconi Plants a Forest project will be able to absorb 501.350 kg of CO2 from the environment.
Production
Attention and targeted investments have led us to improve the energy efficiency of our production processes, with positive effects also on emissions into the atmosphere. In other words, our plants today use less energy for the same volume of production. The continuous improvement of these processes has been pursued both through small adjustments and optimizations in production (also obtained thanks to the ideas of our people) and through specific investments in new technologies.
Just over 10% of the sheet (metal plate, from which each process starts) does not become part of the finished product and is therefore a physiological waste of the production line.
Plastic materials, coming from the compounds, are also recycled for non-food uses. Paper, cardboard, and wood from packaging materials are reused in the wastepaper sector. Finally, there is also a small amount of hazardous special waste (consisting for example of residues of paints and inks, used oils present inside the machinery, exhausted lamps, and toner for printers) that is disposed of in a strictly controlled manner, in full compliance with current regulations.

The waste is classified internally and collected separately, with the necessary identification codes based on the composition and origin; their transport and disposal are carried out by specialized external companies that record each operation to allow traceability, as required by applicable laws.
PACKAGING MUST BE BEAUTIFUL, INTELLIGENT AND RESPONSIBLE.
