The Atessa
production plant in Abruzzo, in the province of Chieti,
came into operation in 1991 and is one of the world's
largest crown production facility with a capacity
in excess of 15 billion units per year, representing the
state of the art in terms of manufacturing technology
and control systems.
The success of this most modern of manufacturing plants
is the source of much pride within the Pelliconi Group,
and is a demonstration of the company's ability to
predict the evolution of the market towards the use of
new materials and technologies.
Having grown during recent years to occupy today an area
of around 52,000 square metres, 26,000 of which under
cover, the plant employs over 170 people in the
production of 26mm and 29mm crown corks with PVC and
PVC-free liners and plastic closures. Since 2000 Atessa
has benefited from its own lithography capability,
amongst the most modern in the world.
The Atessa
plant has been certified under ISO 9002 since 1994,
under ISO 9001 since 2000, and under ISO 14000 since
2002.
